El Salvador Mission 2021

Help Our Students Experience a Bigger World

When we say we’re helping kids become globally conscious and historically relevant, we mean it! The 8th-12th grade students at the Academy for G.O.D. are going on a mission trip to El Salvador with G.O.D. International this summer! Students will experience Latin American culture, not as a tourist, but as a servant to those in need. They will also study God’s Word and serve alongside G.O.D. Int’l cooperatives in Latin America.

You’re invited to support Academy students to serve abroad on mission this summer!

What Will Academy Students Do in El Salvador?

Most importantly, students will be able to put into practice lessons they’ve learned at the Academy for G.O.D. They’ll work alongside our cooperatives in the garden, install showers, and repair leaky roofs. Students will implement their knowledge of first aid and wound care by helping bandage cuts and scrapes to prevent infection and illness. They’ll provide entertainment in the arts by performing songs, skits and dances for local schools and churches.

Through all of this, students will learn how to be servants. They will gain an understanding of God’s concern for “the least of these” (Matt. 25:45), and how they can love their neighbor. We look forward to seeing students have their eyes opened to a bigger, more diverse world than they’ve seen before.

How We Prepare Students for Mission

IMG_5890.jpg

Students will prepare by attending four training sessions before they leave for El Salvador.  These training sessions, facilitated by our trip leads, will ensure students are preparing to go will feel prepared for an international missions experience. Students will rehearse Spanish songs and skits for the youth in El Salvador and use their time to prepare for the VBS Curriculum for Salvadoran children.

Students will also complete a course at school to prepare them mentally and spiritually for their time abroad by learning how Jesus ministered to those in need. They will be given Spanish modules, Cultural introduction modules along with a biblical lens to help them know what service looks like according to Jesus’ ministry. This training will ensure that students feel prepared and ready for a trip that will make an impact on their person and their perspective in the world.
