OUR MISSION
Holistically educating children to become responsible, kind and ethical neighbors; competent persons, globally conscious and historically relevant.
Explanation
Holistically Educating
“Holistically educating,” references five categories of learning that students experience at The Academy:
Academic - Reading, wRiting, and aRithmetic
Emotional - Intrapersonal Development
Social - Interpersonal Development
Moral - Ethical Development
Spiritual - Character Development according to the directives of the Word of God (The Bible), being “conformed to the image of his Son” (Romans 8:29), embodying the work of God in personhood (1 Cor. 3:6, Eph. 2:10).
Children to Become Responsible, Kind, & Ethical Neighbors,
The phrase “children to become” highlights the process of becoming, of growing, and growing into a specific kind of adult, as modified by the terms “responsible, kind, and ethical.” This process into adulthood assumes implementation of the holistic education addressed above.
When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus responded with “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. And the second which is like it, love your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10:25-28). When asked, “who is my neighbor?” He responded with the story of “The Good Samaritan” (Luke 10:29-37). In the story, the model character embodies “responsibility,” by not leaving the injured victim on the side of the road like previous passer-bys. He also demonstrates biblical “kindness,” as he defers his own agenda, animal, and resources to assist the man in need. Finally, he shows his “ethical” disposition by not leaving the man to contend with his unexpected circumstance, and potentially devastating debts, but finances his healthcare, guaranteeing that services rendered would be paid in full.
The Samaritan man is said to be a “neighbor” in the passage because he showed mercy (compassion - to suffer alongside), even to someone different than he, particularly nationally/racially.
Competent Persons,
“Competent Persons,” indicates the level of capacity that students should achieve, so that their confidence is not inflated, but built on an actual ability to contribute to the wellbeing of society.
Globally Conscious,
“Globally Conscious,” highlights an awareness of culture, race, customs, language, and perspective. Students will know that they are a part of a diversely beautiful world designed by God, where perspective taking becomes an inherent mode of interaction.
& Historically Relevant.
“Historically Relevant,” addresses the need for students to understand their time, their generation, including the related issues connected. For example, being brought up in the tech/information age, they would learn how to access information in ways unlike any previous generation, but also, and more importantly, sort through it, verify it, and be selective about what they determine to be reliable. Another example would be connected to the biotechnology and artificial intelligence advancements that will put human beings in a position to consider what constitutes consciousness, and what makes for a living person. Questions that former generations didn’t have to address directly, will face this upcoming group, and they’ll need prepared.
OUR VISION
The Academy for GOD envisions an educational model that provides a nontraditional venue for student growth and development, cultivating innovative thinkers, compassionate leaders, and global citizens.
Our transformative journey emphasizes not only academic excellence, but also spiritual development, social consciousness, and emotional resilience.
Committed to nurturing students who are grounded in their spiritual identity, we aim to equip students to engage meaningfully in society, build genuine connections, and navigate life's challenges with empathy and emotional intelligence.
Through this holistic approach, we aspire to empower a future generation that positively impacts communities, fosters justice, and embraces the diversity of our interconnected world, as witnessed in the life and love of Jesus.
